I'm looking for a really analog, 80s sounding chorus pedal. I currently use a Small Clone but it's not warm or "fat" enough for me. any suggestions? preferrably a new pedal (as opposed to a vintage one).
If you’re looking for an 80’s sounding analog chorus pedal, why would you look for something new? If a vintage sound is what you’re going for, get a vintage pedal. Stereo Memory Man perhaps? That was the most “analog” sounding chorus I’ve ever played.
I don't listen to Avenged Sevenfold either, but I know that on YouTube, Dunlop TV have interviews with the A7x crew and talk you through their gear. Just look through their video list. It's a great YouTube channel for any gearwhore, as well. Some awesome videos.
I bought a cheap little Tube/Valve amp and i was wondering if replacing the tubes would alter the sound and if so, any recommendations?
yes changing tubes alters the sound of the amp. its not just a matter of popping them in and out different tubes produce different tones take it to a local tech and hammer it out with them. itll cost you.
I've got a Boss BF-2 Flanger Japan model with the silver screw. I hate the effect but the pedal is great and I want rid of it but I can't find any where to sell it. There's a few of them on eBay and they're on there for ages and they don't sell. Any recommendations on a good place to sell a vintage pedal?
if no one on ebay wants it, then no one wants it. thats how massive a market ebay has. sell it to guitar center.
Kind of a question not about pedals. I have a Vox VT30 that the input jack has fallen in the chassis of. This seems like a pretty common problem, but I'm totally new to the world of amp repair, I've only ever worked on guitars. Do any of you guys know how to repair this? Thanks.
this isnt a repair. just find the washer and nut and re fasten them.
I meant whammy's in general, all the various kinds, but yeah. I don't understand how people can talk shit about Boss, and then use digitech. I mean, boss has some shitters, but I actually prefer some of their pedals. (Sd-1 is fucking golden_
The SD-1 is all around great pedal only if you know how to shop for one. You can get one for dirt cheap and it’s such a great addition to your board.
Side note: People, don’t get fucking butthurt if one us says your favorite pedal is shit. Why? Cause we really don’t fucking care…
I'm a musician with multiple personalities. Sometimes, I'm a bass player, sometimes a rhythm electric guitarist, and becoming more and more of an acoustic player. I'd like to get a pedal board together that can accommodate each of those with minimal switching. Any ideas?
I’d probably go with an M9. Easy for traveling, especially if you’re doing a quick last minute show and don’t have time to pack all the tools. Has every effect you’d want and I take it since you’re dwelling more into acoustic sounds, you’re not going to want the effects too “heavy”, if you will. Give it a try.
Possibly a daft question, and I feel thick for not knowing, but you suggested I get a V7 to replace the big muff. What is a V7??? I'm lovin' the sound of the muff, Russian one to me is better than the American. Just added an mxr phase 90 to the board as well.
The V7 (the V7C in particular; because I know that one is Richard’s favorite) is the “Green Russian” Big Muff made by Sovtek from 1994 -2000. It’s a far superior pedal to any Big Muff and most other fuzz pedals in production today.
Your hatred for the DS-1 is not surprising or new but why do you personally hate it? It is just because it's a common pedal? I think it does the job pretty well! Great blog by the way. Mr Wantatubescreamer.
Thanks and I totally agree with you, the DS-1 does it’s job of being hurled at people pretty well. That diecast body hurts like a mother fucker.
